How Does This Tool Work?
This tool uses the Robinson Formula, which is a standard method used by health professionals.
It starts with a base weight for a person of 5 feet (60 inches) height.
It then adds a specific amount of weight for every additional inch.
The requirements differ for men and women because of differences in bone density and muscle mass.

The Robinson Formula:
This calculator uses the Robinson Formula (1983), which is a widely recognized medical standard for determining a person's healthy weight based on their height. The calculation starts with a base weight for the first 5 feet (60 inches) of height and adds a specific amount for every additional inch.
• For Men:
Base Weight: 52 kg (for the first 5 feet)
Additional Weight: 1.9 kg for every inch over 5 feet
Calculation: 52 + (1.9 x inches over 5 feet)
• For Women:
Base Weight: 49 kg (for the first 5 feet)
Additional Weight: 1.7 kg for every inch over 5 feet
Calculation: 49 + (1.7 x inches over 5 feet)

Why use this formula:
The Robinson Formula is preferred by health professionals because it provides a realistic target weight for the average adult. It helps in setting health goals and understanding if your current weight is within a medically recommended range.

Note: This calculator provides a general guideline. Your "ideal" weight can also be affected by muscle mass, age, and body frame size. Athletes or people with high muscle mass may weigh more than the "ideal" but still be perfectly healthy.
